Find Lynnwood Public Records
Lynnwood public records are available through the city's GovQA online portal, the Lynnwood Police Department, and the city's Municipal Court. Lynnwood is in Snohomish County, located about 16 miles north of Seattle. The city uses the GovQA platform for most public records requests, letting you search prior disclosures before submitting a new one. Police records follow a separate process and require in-person pickup. This page explains where to go for each type of Lynnwood record and how to use the right channel for your request.
Lynnwood Overview
Lynnwood City Records Portal
The City of Lynnwood uses the GovQA Public Records Request Portal for city government records. You can reach it through lynnwoodwa.gov. GovQA lets you search previously fulfilled requests first. This is worth doing before you submit a new one. If the records you want were already released to someone else, you may get them right away without waiting.
To submit a new request, create an account in GovQA and fill out the request form. City staff will review your request and either provide the records or give you a timeline estimate. Under RCW 42.56.520, Lynnwood must respond within five business days. That response may provide the records, acknowledge the request with a time estimate, ask for clarification, or issue a written denial that names the specific legal exemption. The GovQA system lets you track your request status and receive notifications as your request moves forward.
City Clerk records cover meeting minutes, city council actions, ordinances, resolutions, city contracts, budget documents, and general administrative records. These go through the GovQA portal, not through the police department or court.

The Lynnwood Public Records portal shows prior disclosures so you can avoid duplicate requests and get documents faster.
Lynnwood's GovQA portal lets residents search prior records releases and submit new public records requests online.
Lynnwood Police Records
Lynnwood Police Department handles its own records separate from the city clerk. Police records include incident reports, arrest records, and other law enforcement documents. The Police Department has an online portal for requesting police reports at lynnwoodwa.gov. However, Lynnwood requires that you pick up police reports in person and sign for them. You cannot have police reports mailed or emailed to you.
Washington State Accident Reports from crashes on state highways are handled by the Washington State Patrol, not Lynnwood PD. If your accident happened on a state route, go to WSP. For conviction history and criminal background information, Washington State Patrol's WATCH program is the official source. WATCH is a statewide database you can access online for a fee. Local Lynnwood incident reports and state conviction records are different things, and each comes from a different office.
Note: Under RCW 42.56.240, law enforcement records that could harm an active investigation may be withheld. The department must identify which exemption it is using.
The Lynnwood Police Department's records page covers the full process for requesting reports.
Lynnwood Police Department maintains its own records process, separate from the city's GovQA system, and requires in-person pickup of police reports.
Lynnwood Municipal Court Records
Lynnwood Municipal Court handles city ordinance violations and misdemeanor cases within city limits. The court maintains its own records, which are separate from city government records under the Public Records Act. Municipal court records are governed by Washington Court General Rules rather than RCW 42.56. For case information or record copies, contact Lynnwood Municipal Court at (425) 670-5100.
You may also be able to find Lynnwood Municipal Court case information through the Washington State Courts Odyssey Portal at odysseyportal.courts.wa.gov. The Odyssey Portal provides online case searches across many Washington courts without requiring you to call the court directly. For older court records, the Washington State Digital Archives may have archived documents.
Felony cases from Lynnwood are handled at Snohomish County Superior Court, not at the Municipal Court. See Snohomish County public records for Superior Court case access.
Snohomish County Records for Lynnwood Residents
Lynnwood is in Snohomish County. Many records that affect Lynnwood residents are held at the county level rather than by the city. Snohomish County Superior Court handles felony criminal cases, family law cases, civil suits, and probate. The County Auditor's office records property deeds, liens, and mortgages. The County Assessor holds property tax and valuation records. These are all county records, not city records.
Visit the Snohomish County public records page for county-level contacts, online search tools, and instructions for submitting requests to county offices. The county and the city use separate systems and separate offices, so make sure you are going to the right one for what you need.
